Craps Information
As a new player looking at the craps table you could be forgiven for thinking that the game looks very complicated. While there are a lot of different bets you can make only a handful of bets are worth placing. The basic game play involved in a crap game is easy to learn.
Every crap game starts with what is known as the Come Out roll. This roll determines if the round ends or if the round continues. If a 2, 3, 7, 11 or 12 is rolled the round ends and bets are paid. If a 1, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 is rolled a "Point" is established and the dice are rolled again until either the point or a 7 is rolled. Each round follows this format.
When it comes to what bet to make on the craps table the "Pass Line" bet is the one to go for. It has 1 to 1 and has a low house edge of just 1.41%. To place a pass line bet simply place chips on the pass line section of table before the come out roll. If the roll is 7 or 11 you win and if the roll is 2, 3 or 12 you lose.
The only other bet type that you need to know is the Odds Bet. This bet is unusual because there is no house edge. To place this bet you need to have placed a pass line bet before the come out roll. If a point is rolled you can then add an Odds Bet. This bet wins if the point is rolled before a seven. Payouts for the odds bet vary depending on the point rolled.
Some of the bets on the craps table might seem attractive with payouts of 15 to 1 or even 30 to 1 offered on some of the proposition bets. While there is no denying that these bets have big payouts they also have a huge house edge of between 11% and 14% so in the long term you will lose much more than you win on these bets.
The pass line bets and playing the odds are the best ways to win when playing craps both online and at regular casinos. If you stick to these bets you will give yourself the best chance of winning at craps.
